The Titan embarked on a mission to explore the Titanic wreck on June 18, 2023, but ended in disaster when it imploded under the sea at a depth of 3,500 meters, claiming the lives of all aboard including Hamish Harding, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman Dawood, and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.
Titled “The Titan Sub Disaster: Minute by Minute,” this two-part series airing on Channel 5 will share the critical audio captured by the Canadian Air Force during the initial days of the search. This audio, featuring what was interpreted as ‘banging’ sounds, initially gave rescuers and listeners false hope that the sub’s crew might be alive and signaling for help. However, this theory was later debunked, adding a layer of complexity to the search efforts.
Journalist Ryan Cooke highlighted the significance of this audio discovery, noting its impact on the narrative surrounding the search operation. The documentary promises to construct a comprehensive timeline of the Titan’s journey, scrutinize the mission’s challenges, and reflect on the tragedy’s broader implications.
